Insurance Navy sponsors and participates in Pilsen Municipality Driver's License Reinstatement Exhibition

This year, the Pilsen Neighbors Community Council is holding its annual Driver’s License Recovery Exhibition (DLRE) on September 11, 2021.

What many drivers may not know is that driving without a license is not a trivial offense punishable by a fine. It can either be an administrative offense or even a criminal offense that can lead to the permanent loss of a driver’s license. That’s one of the many reasons why those with a suspended license have it reinstated as soon as possible. The Pilsner Neighbors Community Council holds its annual Driver’s License Reinstatement Exhibition (DLRE) for precisely this purpose, and the pandemic didn’t stop them from doing so last year. The DLRE returns this year on September 11th, together with sponsors. One of this year’s sponsors is the Insurance Navy.

The first DLRE operated by the Pilsen district took place in 2018, so it is only in its fourth year. However, the importance of such an event was evident at its first event, which attracted just over 1,000 people, although only a few hundred were expected. In the next year, the number of visitors doubled to at least 3,000 people. The third annual DLRE was both online and in person, with 800 people arriving wearing masks. This year the registration list again exceeds the 1,000 mark.

“The Municipality of Pilsen is providing a necessary and professional service with this event,” said Fadi Sneineh, CEO of Insurance Navy, “The Driver’s License Recovery Exhibition connects all of its participants with traffic prosecutors who can view their personal driver’s licenses and reasons for their suspension . They offer legal advice on the license reinstatement process, making it less stressful overall and even affordable with reinstatement payment plans. One of the requirements for reinstatement of a suspended license is to have automobile insurance as required by the state of Illinois. In addition to court and reinstatement fees, suspended drivers can file a bill. It is our responsibility as an insurance agency to make it more accessible and affordable. Sponsoring and attending this event is a great way to help.”

Of course, the main goal of the Driver’s License Reinstatement Exhibition is to restore justice, as the Pilsen Neighborhood Community Council says. Most people rely on their cars for work, errands, and picking up kids from school. For some drivers in the Chicagoland area, public transit may not be an option depending on the neighborhood. An Illinois driver’s license can be suspended for traffic violations such as a DUI or multiple pending collisions within seven years. A license can also be suspended for less serious offences, e.g. B. if the emission values of their car were not checked, missed payments such as child support and a civil judgment after an accident. Driving without car insurance can also result in your driving license being revoked.

“Following the law should not be expensive or tedious. All Illinois drivers must carry

at least the minimum car insurance that the state requires. For drivers with a suspended driver’s license, obtaining the correct coverage or an SR22 certificate is often one of the first steps towards license recovery. At DLRE, attendees who have just had their Zoom calls with a traffic attorney can drop by our table and get started on their low cost car insurance policy or SR22 certification if they need it for reinstatement. It’s one thing to educate a driver on what they need to do to regain their driver’s license and why. It’s another thing to take an active role in the process, which can save them money and time,” Sneineh said.

The Driver’s License Recovery Exhibition will be held on September 11 from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm at Malcolm X College on Jackson Blvd in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. Advice from the lawyers is free but is limited to cases without a search warrant or private lawyers and cases younger than seven years. Registration is possible via the Pilsen Neighbors website.
